The identity shift is the part no one prepares the dependable one for: the moment she realizes she has been living inside a story that was never entirely hers. And Daphne is right that the wisdom does not arrive from trying harder. The body usually knows before the mind agrees to listen.
Thank you for sharing these stories @Kiran Singh, Midlife by Design, including mine. May my story be a mirror, a naming for someone else like so many of the stories you’ve shared have been for me.
The verification codes were difficult this moring. However, Ms. Ogle's words are inspiring, and I wished they were around when I went through my midlife in my 40s. I'm well past that, and I'd like to add that life continues, and it's really truly beautiful. There will be ups and downs, sadness and happiness, but it all gets better as we maintain the strength that we have built during and after midlife.
I'm glad this resonated. And I so agree it's such a beautiful unfolding this life walk. Not always easy but beautiful. I feel like I've gone through so many rebirths in my life. I'm currently in my late 50s and still shedding layers and remembering myself. Maybe you feel the same?
And I think at a deeper layer. That old saying about peeling onion feels right. But also I'm beginning to think of it as a gathering rather than a losing. Maybe it's more like we transform the layer into something more us :). Appreciate your thoughtful comments Jackie!

Every so often an event or person appears in our lives, and layers reappear, like a dormant orchid.
