Every year, when September rolls in, I feel a shift. There’s something about this month, the air cooling, the leaves beginning to turn, the world gently whispering: slow down, re-align, breathe.
For so many years, I ignored that invitation. My Septembers were always full of overthinking, overbooking, and saying yes when my whole body wanted to say no. I’d push through, trying to keep up, chasing perfection in every area of life, my work, my relationships, even my self-care. And honestly? It never felt like me.
This September, I’m doing things differently.
I want to stop and enjoy the small moments. A walk through crisp air. A hot cup of tea in silence. Conversations that feel easy and real. I want to spend time with people who feel good to be around, and I want to stop forcing myself into spaces where I shrink.
I’m not chasing perfection this month. I’m choosing presence.
That means:
Protecting my peace, even when people don’t understand.
Paying attention to how I feel, instead of how I “should” feel.
Resting, even when the to-do list isn’t done.
Letting my boundaries stand without guilt.
Because here’s the thing: September isn’t asking us to hustle harder. It’s inviting us to realign. To slow down enough to hear ourselves again. To let go of the noise and the clutter and the things we were never meant to carry.
Practical ways to create your September reset:
Reflect before rushing. Before setting new goals, ask yourself what worked last month and what drained you.
Choose one mindset shift. Instead of a long list, pick one word or phrase to carry with you into September (mine is presence).
Set boundaries early. Decide in advance what you’ll say no to, so you’re not caught in the moment.
Build in rest. Put downtime in your calendar before it gets filled with obligations.
Anchor in rituals. A weekly walk, journaling on Sundays, or a soft Friday night routine, something that signals peace.
If you want to take it even deeper, this month I’m also opening the doors to my challenge: From “What Now?” to “Watch Me!”: A 48-Day Journey. It’s not a hustle. It’s not about pressure. It’s about steady, intentional steps that move you from questioning your next chapter to owning it with clarity and courage.
September is your reminder that you don’t need a new year for a fresh start. You can choose a different story today.
So, here’s mine: I’m choosing to live more honestly. More grounded. More like me.
And if you’re in that same place, I hope this gives you permission to choose differently, too.
