Spring is visibility season. Not the loud kind, not the performative kind, not the version where you suddenly decide to become someone unrecognisable by Monday morning, I mean the quieter kind of visibility: the moment you begin to see yourself again.
After winter’s inwardness, spring often brings small awakenings: a desire, a truth, a longing, a realisation, a feeling that something inside you is ready to be noticed.
Maybe this spring, you found yourself wanting more beauty.
More space.
More honesty.
More creativity.
More joy.
More aliveness.
More of your own life back.
Maybe you started noticing where you’d been hiding. Not dramatically, not intentionally, just slowly becoming less visible to yourself while life kept asking you to be everything to everyone else.
This happens so easily in midlife. We become fluent in responsibility, we become skilled at carrying, we become experts in getting through, and then one day, often in a very ordinary moment, something in us whispers:
“What about me?”
That whisper matters.
Today is about listening to it, because self-discovery in midlife is not always about finding a brand-new version of yourself. Sometimes it’s about recognising the parts of you that never truly disappeared. The parts that became buried under roles, routines, responsibilities, heartbreaks, healing, expectations, and years of being sensible.
Spring may have shown you something.
A part of you that wants to create.
A part of you that wants to rest.
A part of you that wants to be seen.
A part of you that is no longer available for certain dynamics.
A part of you that is quietly becoming braver.
This is not small.
The woman becoming visible to you now may not have all the answers. She may still feel tender. She may still be unsure. She may not know exactly what she wants next. But she is there, and your job is not to rush her; your job is to notice her. To give her language, to let her take up a little more space, to stop dismissing the desires that keep returning.
Spring is not only about blooming but also about recognising what is ready to be seen.
So today, ask yourself:
Who became more visible to me this spring?
And perhaps even more importantly:
What am I no longer willing to make invisible?
Journaling Prompts
What part of me became more visible this spring?
What desire did I stop dismissing?
What truth became harder to ignore?
Where did I feel more like myself?
Who am I becoming as I move toward summer?
Today’s Practice: Two Sentences of Truth
Complete these two sentences in your journal:
This spring, I noticed that I am no longer willing to…
This spring, I realised I want more of…
Let the answers be honest, even if they surprise you.
