It didn’t happen all at once.
Turning pain into purpose wasn’t some lightning bolt moment. It was slow. Messy. Sacred. The kind of transformation that only makes sense when you look back.
I didn’t set out to be inspiring or strong. I just didn’t want to crumble. Not when my world was falling apart. Not when I was pregnant and alone. Not when Mum died. Not when I was packing up our home, holding my daughter’s tiny hand, pretending I had it all together.
At the time, I thought I was just surviving. But now? I see I was becoming.
Every heartbreak softened me. Every loss cracked something open. And in those cracks, light got in. Truth got in. A deeper kind of knowing settled into my bones.
I realised I was never broken, just being re-shaped.
And the pain? It had a purpose. Not in a neat, motivational quote way. But in a soul-deep, life-altering way. It carved space for a different version of me to emerge, one that didn’t need to prove, perform, or please anymore. One who could hold space for others, because she had learned how to hold space for herself.
Purpose, I’ve learned, isn’t found. It’s remembered.
It’s stitched into your story. Woven through your wounds. It’s the quiet voice that rises when the world goes still. It’s the fire that burns, not to destroy, but to illuminate what truly matters.
These days, I don't need the pain to make sense. I just let it guide me. I write from it. Coach from it. Live from it. Because my purpose was never about doing more, it was about being more me.
So if you’re in that place right now, heartbroken, uncertain, asking why, know this, Love:
You don’t have to rush to make meaning. You don’t need to “pivot” your pain into something profound overnight.
Just breathe.
Be with it.
Honour it.
Let it speak.
And trust… that even in the dark, something beautiful is unfolding.
You are not lost. You are becoming.
Reflection Prompt:
What if your pain is not a detour, but a doorway? What truth is trying to emerge through your story right now?
