When I think about my life now, I no longer see it as a straight line.
I see it as seasons.
There was Spring, the wide-eyed girl discovering who she was, eager to explore, trying on identities like fresh dresses, never quite knowing which would fit.
Then came Summer, the years of nurturing, pouring myself into others, into home, into relationships, into projects that demanded more of me than I ever knew I had to give.
Now, I feel myself standing in Autumn. The Wild Woman. The season of shedding what no longer serves, of saying no without apology, of turning inward to listen to my own truth. It’s a season of transformation — messy, colourful, unapologetic.
And one day, if I’m lucky, I’ll arrive at Winter, the Wise Woman. The season of stillness, storytelling, legacy. A time to rest into the life I’ve lived and to share the wisdom gathered along the way.
Here’s what midlife is teaching me: every season is sacred. Every season has its own rhythm, its own gifts. And the moment I stop comparing myself to who I was in Summer, or who I’ll one day be in Winter, I find peace in where I am right now.
So today, I’m asking myself, and you, to honour the season we’re in. To stop rushing to the next. To stop clinging to the last. To let the rhythm of life guide us, gently, into becoming.
Because midlife isn’t an ending. It’s simply Autumn. A time of power, of release, of truth. And there is beauty in every falling leaf.
A reflection for you:
Which season of life are you standing in right now, and what gift is it asking you to receive?
A tiny ritual to try:
Step outside today. Notice what the actual season around you is teaching. Whisper to yourself: “This too is part of my becoming.”
