For years, I lived as if becoming my “best self” was the ultimate goal. It was the thread running through everything, my morning routine, the books I devoured, the affirmations I repeated, the goals I set.
Be better. Be more. Be your best.
And while that version of the journey served its purpose, it came with a hidden cost:
I never felt like I was enough, because there was always something more to fix, heal, achieve, or prove.
What started as self-growth quietly turned into self-criticism. Personal development became a never-ending checklist.
Optimise this.
Upgrade that.
Earn your worth.
And one day, I just… got tired.
Of striving.
Of proving.
Of living like I was a constant project.
So, I let it go.
I’m no longer interested in chasing my best self.
I’m choosing to be myself, right here, right now.
Imperfect. In process. Evolving.
Still worthy. Still whole.
Here’s the shift:
I don’t want a life that just looks good.
I want one that feels good.
Not one that’s built on pressure, but one built on joy, alignment, and soul-deep YES energy.
And the truth is, becoming your “best self” during perimenopause or midlife?
Feels like a damn battleground some days.
With your hormones in flux, your sleep all over the place, your mood unpredictable, and your body constantly shifting, trying to “optimise” and “improve” becomes just another form of self-punishment.
It’s exhausting.
And it’s not the point.
So I’m calling it:
We’re not doing that anymore.
This new chapter, Midlife by Design, isn’t about fixing yourself.
It’s about returning to yourself.
It’s about curating a life that honours the woman you already are.
The one who’s done the work.
Who’s still doing it, with tenderness and truth.
The one who wants a business, a rhythm, a love, a body of work, and a life she’s obsessed with, because it reflects her values, her essence, her season.
No more invisible bars.
No more self-improvement spirals.
Just deep self-awareness, grounded self-compassion, and the freedom to keep becoming, without the constant striving.
So if you’ve been feeling like you’re falling behind or not doing enough?
Take a breath.
You’re not behind.
You’re in the middle of your becoming.
Exactly where you’re meant to be.
And that? That’s more than enough.
