The last few days have been full.
Mapping out launches. Sketching new offerings. Getting excited about where the business is heading. I was in motion. The kind of motion that feels focused and energised, but still… constant.
I had planned to record the audio training for the Midlife Reset course today. It’s something I care deeply about, something I know will serve. But this morning, something in me shifted.
I read back through a few old Tea with Self posts, the very words I once wrote to remind myself to slow down, and I felt the nudge.
Not the shout of urgency, but the whisper of truth:
Be still. You don’t need to push today.
So, I closed the tab.
Put on a calming playlist.
And journaled on this:
“What kind of presence would nourish you today, if presence were a small home-grown ritual?”
Not what I should do. Not what’s on the list.
But what would speak of care, not productivity?
And what came through, so simply, so clearly, was this:
I wanted to daydream.
I wanted to plan for Autumn - my Soulmate Season.
I wanted to write a cosy little bucket list of things that would make me feel rooted, held, and alive.
Because the truth is, I never feel my best in the summer.
The heat drains me. Perimenopause intensifies everything.
My energy feels thin, frayed.
And while the world is outside sun-chasing, I’m quietly counting down to crisp air, chunky knits, and evenings lit with soft lamps and quiet rituals.
Autumn feels like home to me.
And sometimes, the most nourishing thing I can offer myself… is permission to long for it.
Here’s what I’m learning:
Sometimes, the bravest thing you can do is… nothing at all.
To be still in a world that rewards the hustle is an act of rebellion.
But stillness is not a void.
It’s a place where you hear yourself again.
Where your nervous system exhales.
Where your soul catches up with your body.
There’s a quiet strength in the pause.
A deep, feminine wisdom in the surrender.
Not everything needs to be held so tightly.
And maybe, just maybe, what we’re chasing so hard will meet us more easily when we soften our grip.
Of course, the old story tried to pay me a visit.
That voice that says: If you’re not doing, you’re failing. If you’re not producing, you’re wasting your life.
But I see it now for what it is. A belief built from burnout. A leftover script from a time when worth was measured by how much you could carry without breaking.
That’s not who I am anymore.
That’s not how I choose to live.
So today, I chose softness.
I chose presence.
I chose to trust that everything that matters will get done, but not at the cost of my peace.
I chose to let go of the weight.
And in that letting go, I remembered who I am.
And Love, maybe that’s all we’re ever trying to return to.
