Living in 40 feet makes “does this belong?” a very literal question. We have so little space on the boat that almost everything has to earn its place, and over time I’ve realised that way of thinking has spread far beyond possessions. I’m much more conscious now of what deserves room in my time and in my life too. I hadn’t thought of it as curating before, but that describes it beautifully.
I still catch myself, at 57, collecting too many ideas. I have too many tabs open and too many unread books. But when I listen to my body and feel the tightness in my chest, I know that project isn't for now. I hear you!
I can so relate to what you're saying here. I love the idea of refining, rather than replacing, the life we have. And I too got my hips (both!) replaced. Nothing like major surgery and new bionic body parts to give you perspective on what matters.
