I wonder how many years we have spent looking at our bodies as something to improve: lose this, tone that, fix this, hide that, eat less, exercise more, start again on Monday.
And then midlife arrives, and your body changes anyway.
Suddenly the old rules don’t work quite as neatly, and perhaps that is the invitation. Not to give up on caring for your body, but to change why you care for it.
Move because movement feels good. Eat because nourishment matters. Rest because your body deserves recovery. Wear clothes that feel beautiful and comfortable. Sleep because tomorrow is easier when you have slept. Touch your skin with kindness. Stand in front of the mirror and see a whole woman rather than a collection of flaws.
Your body has carried you through every version of your life so far: it has laughed, cried, healed, ached, danced, worked, held children, held grief, held pleasure, and most importantly, held you.
Maybe she deserves something different from criticism now; maybe she deserves your friendship.
Today’s inspired action: do one thing for your body today that has nothing to do with changing how it looks. Then notice how that feels.
See you tomorrow for your next Midlife Edit ❤️
