Hi, đ
Some things have been in our lives for so long that we mistake familiarity for necessity.
An old expectation. A role. A resentment. A friendship that has quietly expired. A version of ourselves we keep performing. A story about who we are. A belief that we have to be everything to everyone.
But just because youâve carried something for twenty years doesnât mean youâre required to carry it for another twenty. You can put it down.
You can say: This mattered once. This taught me something. This was part of my story. And I donât need it anymore.
There is no disrespect in releasing what has become too heavy. Sometimes letting go is not rejection; it is recognition. You are recognising that your life has changed. That you have changed. That the space you once needed for survival might now be space you want for living.
So todayâs little invitation is to identify one thing youâve been carrying simply because youâve always carried it.
Donât solve it immediately, just name it.
Then ask: Would I choose to pick this up today if it wasnât already in my hands?
If the answer is ânoâ, perhaps youâre closer to putting it down than you realise.
See you tomorrow for your next Midlife Edit â¤ď¸

If something Iâve written has made you pause, think, smile, or see your own life a little differently, and youâd like to send a little love back my way, you can buy me a Matcha Latte.
It helps me keep creating these little moments of reflection, encouragement, and possibility for you. And honestly, knowing that something Iâve written has landed with you is the loveliest support of all.
