Hi 😊,
There is a particular kind of peace that arrives on the evening before a threshold. It is the quiet moment when you stop pacing, stop preparing, stop editing yourself, and simply sit back in your chair with a hot cup of tea, watching the candle flicker across the room. You look at the life you have quietly assembled over the years; imperfect, messy, beautiful, and real, and you realise something profound: I am already at home here.
For so long, many of us live with a persistent, background hum whispering “not quite yet.” We tell ourselves we will inhabit our lives fully once the project is finished, once the body changes, once the house is clear, or once we feel completely ready. But readiness isn’t a feeling that magically arrives; it’s a decision you make on an ordinary evening. Tomorrow brings a brand-new decade of my life, my 49th birthday, and the release of my book. But tonight, I am simply enjoying being right here, feet on the floor, breathing in the quiet dignity of how far we have all come.
You don’t need to transform before breakfast tomorrow; you just need to show up for the woman who is already standing right here.
Today’s inspired action: Before you head to sleep tonight, put away your phone, pause by a window or sit in your favourite spot, and say a quiet thank you to the woman who carried you all the way to this evening.
See you tomorrow for your next Midlife Edit ❤️
