Hi, 😊
We’re constantly being told to motivate ourselves, to get disciplined, push harder, wake earlier, do more, become our highest self.
But sometimes I think we’re exhausted because we keep trying to motivate ourselves into lives that don’t actually fit us.
Maybe the answer isn’t another productivity hack, but it’s permission.
Permission to want less, to rest, to change your mind, to have an ordinary day, to be ambitious, not to be ambitious, to spend money on something beautiful, to save, to fall in love, to be alone, to say no. Permission to start something new at an age when everyone assumes you should be settling down.
Midlife can be wonderfully liberating because you begin to understand that nobody is coming to hand you an official certificate saying:
“You may now live exactly as you choose.”
You have to give yourself one. So today, choose a permission slip.
Write it down, put it somewhere you’ll see it, and then, just once, act as though it is already true.
See you tomorrow for your next Midlife Edit ❤️

If something I’ve written has made you pause, think, smile, or see your own life a little differently, and you’d like to send a little love back my way, you can buy me a Matcha Latte.
It helps me keep creating these little moments of reflection, encouragement, and possibility for you. And honestly, knowing that something I’ve written has landed with you is the loveliest support of all.
