Hi, 😊
I have spent a surprising amount of my life asking whether something was useful.
Will it make money? Will it improve me? Will it move the business forward? Will it help someone? Will it produce something?
And then I discovered the joy of doing something completely pointless. Something that exists simply because I like it: painting, pottering, looking at flowers, rearranging a room, making a beautiful lunch for one, listening to music without doing anything else, sitting outside and watching the sky change.
There is something almost rebellious about pleasure that cannot be justified by productivity. Because perhaps not everything needs a purpose. Perhaps joy is enough. Perhaps beauty is enough. Perhaps I wanted to is a perfectly valid reason.
So today’s inspired action is to do something that serves absolutely no purpose.
Don’t photograph it, turn it into a business idea, optimise it, or feel guilty about it; just enjoy it.
Let yourself experience what it feels like to do something because you like doing it. That might be one of the most useful things you do all day.
See you tomorrow for your next Midlife Edit ❤️

If something I’ve written has made you pause, think, smile, or see your own life a little differently, and you’d like to send a little love back my way, you can buy me a Matcha Latte.
It helps me keep creating these little moments of reflection, encouragement, and possibility for you. And honestly, knowing that something I’ve written has landed with you is the loveliest support of all.

This is such a great reminder Kiran. I often write or post about the importance of finding joy, noticing the glimmers in our life. You put this so beautifully! ✨
