Hi 😊,
We tend to think that losing touch with ourselves happens in a single, dramatic crisis. But identity erosion is almost never dramatic. It is the cumulative weight of ten thousand tiny moments of self-abandonment.
It is the opinion you swallowed to keep the peace. The boundary you didn’t hold because explaining yourself felt too exhausting. The meal you didn’t want, the event you didn’t have capacity for, the desire you talked yourself out of before it even had a chance to breathe. Midlife is not about building a brand-new persona; it is simply about stopping the daily self-abandonment.
Today’s inspired action: Choose one small moment today where you would usually compromise your own preference to suit someone else, and gently choose yourself instead.
See you tomorrow for your next Midlife Edit ❤️
