Hi, 😊,
We have turned the word ‘boundary’ into something so clinical that we forget its true beauty. A boundary is not an act of hostility, a wall to keep people out, or evidence that you are being difficult. It is simply the honest communication of what you are and are not available for.
When you say yes out of obligation while your whole body is screaming no, you trade self-respect for temporary peace. You end up managing everyone else’s emotional comfort at the expense of your own nervous system. A gentle, clear line allows you to love others without losing yourself in the process.
Your availability is not a public utility.
Today’s inspired action: When asked for something today that you don’t have the capacity for, practise this simple script: “I need a little time to think about this before I respond.”
See you tomorrow for your next Midlife Edit ❤️
