Back in 2014, I stumbled on something that felt small at the time, but ended up reshaping everything.
I started paying attention to the seasons. Not just in nature, but in how I lived, moved, dressed, cooked, decorated, planned, and even rested. And over the years, it became second nature. A way of being. A way of breathing.
These days, I live seasonally.
Intentionally.
Slowly.
Spring is green. She’s full of new beginnings. Buds blooming, energy rising, a soft invitation to start again.
This is when I shake off the stillness of winter, take action, set new intentions, style our home in gentle greens, and eat fresh produce that feels alive.
Summer is blue. Like the sea. Spacious, expansive, filled with light. This is when I lean into celebration, long walks, salty air, more laughter, easy meals shared outdoors, blue and white textures around the home, lighter layers on my body, and a sense of openness in my spirit.
Autumn is burnt orange. A warm exhale. This is the season of harvest, when I look back, gather what’s worked, and gently release what no longer does. Our home turns amber-toned, food becomes hearty, and wardrobes soften with knits and scarves. I slow down, reflect more, and get cosy.
Winter is white. Still. Quiet. Sacred. This is the rest season. Nature sleeps, and so do I, in my own way. More journaling, more dreaming, more nourishing foods. The home becomes a cocoon, dressed in whites and soft neutrals. There’s less doing. More being.
Living in rhythm with the seasons taught me to honour where I am, instead of pushing myself into a pace that doesn’t fit. It taught me presence. Gratitude. Enoughness.
I unlearned the rush. And I began to trust the pause.
Now I dress in tune with the time of year, light and playful in spring, bold and flowing in summer, layered and grounded in autumn, soft and cocooned in winter. I keep seasonal bucket lists, not as goals, but as invitations to soak up the magic of each moment.
A picnic in the park.
Candlelit autumn dinners.
Slow Sunday baking in December.
Wildflower walks in April.
It’s a lifestyle, but it’s also a deep kind of self-respect. When we live with the seasons, we stop fighting time. We stop living in ‘someday’. We land fully in today.
And I don’t know about you, but I’d rather be here.
In this season.
With both feet planted.
Heart open.
Home styled to reflect the world outside my window.
The body nourished with what the earth is offering right now.
Energy shaped by Mother Nature’s wisdom, not society’s pressure.
Because when we live seasonally, we don’t just decorate differently. We feel differently. We live differently.
And it’s all just… better.
