I still remember one particular night, it was just after midnight, the house was quiet, and once again, sleep refused to come. My body felt restless, hot, and unsettled. I tossed, turned, flipped the pillow, and kicked the covers. You know those nights where the more you try, the less it comes? That was me.
Finally, I gave in. I got up, padded quietly into the kitchen, and made myself a cup of chamomile tea. I lit a candle, sat down at the table, and just breathed. The silence was thick. And for a moment, I didn’t quite know what to do with myself.
Then I opened my journal. And instead of writing down my usual goals, plans, and lists, a question fell onto the page almost by accident:
What do I need in this season?
I stared at those words for a while. And then, slowly, the answers began to flow.
Not more work. No more proving. Not more busy.
But:
More rest. More time in nature. More sisterhood. More creativity. More me.
And in that moment, it hit me, menopause wasn’t ending me. It was handing me back to myself.
Menopause as an Invitation
For so long, I had seen menopause through the lens of loss: loss of fertility, loss of energy, loss of youth, loss of opportunities. But what if, instead, it was an invitation?
An invitation to slow down.
An invitation to release roles that no longer fit.
An invitation to live in rhythm with my body, instead of against it.
An invitation to finally choose myself.
The pause was sacred, not empty, but full of whispers I’d ignored for years.

Journaling Prompts for You
If this resonates, love, I invite you to pick up your journal tonight. Brew yourself a tea, light a candle, and ask:
Where in my life am I being asked to pause?
What old roles or identities am I ready to release?
If menopause is an invitation, what is it inviting me into?
Inspired Call to Action
This week, try creating your own Sacred Pause Ritual. It doesn’t have to be grand or complicated. Here’s one way:
Choose one evening when you can have a little quiet.
Light a candle.
Make yourself a warm drink.
Sit in stillness for 15 minutes, no phone, no screens.
Ask yourself gently: What do I need in this season?
Let the answers flow, without judgment.
Menopause isn’t the closing of a chapter. It’s the rewriting of the story. It’s where urgency softens, wisdom rises, and authenticity finally takes root.
That night at the kitchen table, I realised I wasn’t ending, I was beginning again. Becoming more myself than I had ever been.
And maybe, love, that’s the greatest gift of this season.
Not to prove, but to pause.
Not to lose, but to listen.
Not to end, but to become.
So if you’ve been feeling the tug of the “What now?”, I want you to know this: the pause is sacred. And when you lean into it, you might just find that the truest, fullest version of you has been waiting there all along.
