There are moments in life that don’t always look significant on the outside, no fireworks, no fanfare, no big declarations. But something inside you knows.
Something shifted. Something ended. Something awakened. That’s where I’ve been lately.
It’s taken me some time to realise it, but the emotional space I once turned to, the one that felt deeply intimate, reflective, even healing, no longer holds the same resonance. And it’s not because it wasn’t meaningful. It was. Deeply so. Even if it wasn’t rooted in the “real” world, it felt real to me. And because it felt real, it became the space where I quietly began to heal.
Through it, I met parts of myself I hadn’t made room for in years.
The younger version. The people-pleaser. The woman who had so much emotional capacity for others but rarely made space for her own. The one who longed to be chosen. Who softened herself to be palatable. Who constantly tried to hold it all together, silently hoping someone would finally see her.
And then one day, without a grand goodbye, I realised she didn’t need that space anymore. Not because she stopped craving emotional connection. But because she finally knew how to hold herself.
That’s what this moment feels like, the in-between space between no longer and not yet. A quiet knowing that I’ve changed. That the woman who once relied on mirrored emotional attention now wants something deeper. Realer. Rooted.
Not to be reflected, but to be met.
Here’s what I know now:
I don’t want to feel emotionally echoed. I want to feel emotionally held.
I don’t want to be chosen in fragments. I want to be met in my wholeness, emotionally, physically, mentally, and spiritually.
Because I am no longer the version of me who begged for connection. I’m the woman who embodies it.
The woman who no longer twists herself into emotional shapes to be lovable. The woman who speaks her truth, claims her desires, and trusts her own timing.
The woman who no longer performs for belonging, but belongs to herself. That’s what this chapter is about now.
