For so many years, I thought I had to have it all figured out before I could move forward. That the plan had to be perfect, the timing exact, the execution flawless.
But life, and midlife especially, has taught me something softer, truer: my dreams don’t need perfection. They only ask for my loyalty when the road gets heavy.
Progress, I’ve learned, is messy. It’s uncertain. It’s built in imperfect, stumbling steps. And yet, that’s where the real becoming happens. My dreams don’t crumble when I fall; they only fade when I decide they’re no longer worth holding on to.
There are days when reality feels too heavy, when the distance between where I am and where I long to be feels impossible. On those days, I remind myself why I started. I remember that these dreams weren’t planted in me by accident. They were placed in my heart to grow, even through storms.
I don’t need to walk without fear. I only need the courage to keep walking. To trust the process. To embrace the detours. To hold on to the vision, even when it feels far away.
Because here’s the thing: the moment I refuse to abandon my dreams, even in the hardest seasons, is the moment I prove to myself that they were worth it all along.
And that, Love, feels like its own kind of triumph.
A reflection for you:
What dream have you put on pause because you thought it had to be perfect before you began? What small, imperfect step could you take today?
A tiny ritual to try:
Write down one dream you’re holding close. Beneath it, write: “I don’t need perfect. I only need persistence.” Keep it where you can see it.
