Ready is a slippery little thing. We tell ourselves we’ll start when we’re ready. Leave when we’re ready. Speak up when we’re ready. Travel when we’re ready. Date when we’re ready. Build the thing when we’re ready. And sometimes we wait so long that the waiting becomes the life.
I’ve learned that courage rarely arrives before the action. More often, we act while our stomach is fluttering, our hands are shaking, and our brain is enthusiastically listing every possible reason not to.
Then, somewhere afterwards, we realise: Oh. I was capable of doing that all along.
You don’t need to feel fearless. You don’t need absolute certainty. You don’t need everyone else’s approval. Sometimes you simply need enough trust to take the next step.
So today, think of one thing you’ve been postponing because you don’t feel ready. Don’t do the whole thing, just take the first step: send the email, make the appointment, open the document, book the ticket, have the conversation, put yourself in the room.
Courage doesn’t always announce itself. Sometimes it looks like pressing send.
See you tomorrow for your next Midlife Edit ❤️

If something I’ve written has made you pause, think, smile, or see your own life a little differently, and you’d like to send a little love back my way, you can buy me a Matcha Latte.
It helps me keep creating these little moments of reflection, encouragement, and possibility for you. And honestly, knowing that something I’ve written has landed with you is the loveliest support of all.
