Hi, 😊,
There is a particular kind of tiredness that arrives in midlife that has nothing to do with sleep. It doesn’t come from a late night, a busy week, or a packed calendar. It arrives deeper than that; in your bones, in the spaces between thoughts, and in the quiet moment when you look at your diary for the week and feel something closer to dread than anticipation. It is the quiet exhaustion of a woman who has been running on obligation and adrenaline for so long that she has forgotten what it feels like to simply be well.
I know this tiredness intimately. I spent years performing wellness, going through all the right motions, keeping the plates spinning, and telling everyone I was fine; all while quietly ignoring the subtle ways my body was trying to get my attention. We live in a culture that praises the woman who runs on five hours of sleep and still manages to deliver. But she isn’t performing wellness; she is managing depletion.
Perhaps the tiredness you are feeling right now isn’t evidence that you are failing. Perhaps it is your body’s gentlest invitation to stop managing your depletion and start paying attention to what you actually need.
Today’s inspired action: Before you reach for your phone or rush into your morning, take two minutes sitting with your cup of tea or coffee. Put one hand on your heart, close your eyes, and ask yourself quietly: What would it mean to stop running on empty today?
See you tomorrow for your next Midlife Edit ❤️

Overflow, Not Empty Cups
Today I visited my Aunt and her family, and over a cup of warm Vanilla Chai Latte, I found myself deep in conversation with my cousin.
