Hi 😊,
There is a subtle, chronic tension that comes from rushing through an ordinary Thursday just to reach the end of it. We spend our mornings anticipating our afternoons, and our afternoons stressing over dinner preparation, constantly living two steps ahead of where our feet are actually standing.
This habit of treating our daily tasks as obstacles between us and our eventual rest leaves us feeling perpetually rushed. Midlife invites us to step out of this internal hurry. The ordinary task — making the tea, folding the linen, answering the email — is not something to get past so that your life can begin; it is your life happening in real time. When you intentionally slow your physical pace by just ten per cent, your nervous system responds immediately.
Today’s inspired action: Make your afternoon tea or coffee with deliberate slowness — watch the kettle boil, smell the steam, and sit down to drink it while it is still hot.
See you tomorrow!
